NMC SH Abu Dhabi conducted Fire & Evacutation Drill with Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority
NMC Specialty Hospital, Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, 22nd March conducted an Annual Fire & Evacuation drill with the coordination of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence. This evacuation drill is being conducted to test the organization’s Fire & Evacuation preparedness. The plan includes prevention, early detection, suppression and safe exit from the facility in response to fires and non-fire emergencies. The evacuation covered all hospital employees’ patients & visitors.
Dr. C R Shetty, Group Medical Director, NMC Healthcare said “the drill was aimed to show the Hospital’s readiness to face emergency conditions and to develop employees’ awareness on safety and security procedures in accordance to Organisation Safety Plans and Emergency Preparedness. The staffs at the Hospital are periodically trained to respond to all types of Emergencies including Fire. Safety facilitators from different departments in the Hospital were trained before the evacuation drill by the Hospital’s Fire & Safety Officer on the location of exits and how to make sure that they are free from any obstructions during the evacuation.” The last Fire & evacuation drill with Civil Defence was conducted on 8th of April 2010
The fire evacuation exercise drill in the presence of the Civil Defence authorities and safety officers was successful and met the purpose of creating awareness and confidence among the employees and the patients on what to do before professional help arrives.
